"This I Swear by the Stars"

Stars, in your multitudes, scarce to be counted. Filling the darkness, with order and light. You are the sentinels, silent and sure, keeping watch in the night.

I love love LOVE looking at the stars at nighttime. There’s just a certain peace that comes when looking at them. It may seem contradictory to say, and this may sound cheesy, but when I look at them, I feel like Heavenly Father knows me individually. He’s created worlds without number, yet He is concerned with even the smallest parts of my life. I can pray to Him literally anywhere, anytime, and He will hear.

There are many times where I’ll just sit outside with my neck craned back and my eyes wide open, trying to soak in as much of the blackness of the sky as I can. But then out of that dark blanket, tiny twinkles shine down on me. It’s almost magical. Stars have always fascinated me, yet I have no idea why. The allure of staring at them and nearly breaking my neck has filled me with comfort many times when I have been in desperate need of it. I know this comfort comes from the Savior, who knows all trials and troubles I go through.

But don’t worry, I’ve discovered that you can actually lie down and stare at the night sky, and that’s much more comfortable than bending my neck.

“Yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator.” {Alma 30:44}
