Hendrickson Homestead II

You can put a halo on that one!
The Hendrickson family dominated the Angels game a few weekends ago. Luke sang the National Anthem with his fifth grade chorus, which made me pretty jealous that he was so close to home plate where Mike Trout has stood many a time. Curran also threw the opening pitch! As soon as the ball hit the catcher’s net, it was said that his throw was a “perfect strike.” The Angels won with a successful 8-6 with plenty of home runs to keep up my excitement. I’d say this game was quite a ball and not the least foul!

I attended Luke’s pioneer day, where I was privileged to watch him square dance and hear him sing old Western songs (my favorite being “Ghost Rider in the Sky”). I still don’t understand why they paired him with the tallest girl for square dancing, but I understood his pain. He then taught me how to do-si-do, and I quite enjoyed the pleasantries of the afternoon. Even when one of his classmates asked me, “Do you go to Thurston?” I explained to him that, no, I am not a middle-schooler, but that I had just finished a year of college.

Other eventful adventures of the week:

A visit to Balboa Island, complete with a frozen banana (“there’s always money in the banana stand”), a ride on the Ferris wheel, and a walk down the fishy pier

A sea life expedition in Dana Point. Didn’t actually see any sealife except for birds and one sea lion, but I stood in the wind and realized I absolutely loved where I lived.

Taught my first Mia Maid lesson on the priesthood. Inspirational quote for this week from M. Russell Ballard: “Not only is the priesthood the power by which the heavens and the earth were created, but it is also the power the Savior used in His mortal ministry to perform miracles, to bless and heal the sick, to bring the dead to life, and, as our Father’s Only Begotten Son, to endure the unbearable pain of Gethsemane and Calvary—thus fulfilling the laws of justice with mercy and providing an infinite Atonement and overcoming physical death through the Resurrection.”

Hanging out with Phoebe and the children I nanny more than my actual friends. Phoebe’s new favorite TV shows are Big Bang Theory and The Mentalist (analysis on her favorite characters coming up never).

And finally mission calls! My closest friends now have all their mission calls, and I couldn’t be more proud! Ethan is already in the Provo MTC, ready to leave for Rome, Italy this summer. Lindsay is leaving this Tuesday for Peru (Lima South)! Logan shall come to the beautiful lands of Anaheim, California this August, and he will be followed by Faith. She will be serving in the LA temple visitors’ center and will speak Spanish. Megan finally received her call, and she’s going to Paris, France! (Right after her summer London study abroad trip.) Couldn’t be more proud and more excited for my amazing friends!
