Goodnight Moon, I Mean Literally BYU
Finals have literally taken over my life this past week. (Please excuse my Chris Traeger gifs, I've been watching a lot of Parks and Recreation lately, and I can't help but admire his constant positivity and zeal for life. Analysis of all Parks and Rec characters coming up never.) But I definitely needed a break, so I took today to reflect on this past year and write a little parody of a beloved children's classic book to say goodbye to the good ol' Y. (Don't worry, I'll be back soon.) I may not seem sad, but I definitely am. I just am a great planner and cried plenty at the beginning of the semester. But now I am strangely perfectly fine. Anyway, I wrote this parody and did not cry, and I think that is literally the best news I have heard all day.
In Helaman Halls’ rooms
In Helaman Halls’ rooms
There was a dorm
And a gray bathroom
And a picture of-
Jesus preaching His sermon
And there were four little friends in room 3221
And two little IDs
And a pair of trees
And a little Y hike
And a stolen bike
And a wish and a kiss and a cannon full of mush
And a quiet RA who was whispering “hush”
Goodbye rooms
Goodbye sermons
Goodbye Stover looking out at the Y
Goodbye ties
And the gray bathrooms
Goodbye friends
Goodbye 3221
Goodbye IDs
And goodbye trees
Goodbye Mays
And goodbye freshman ways
Goodbye little hike
And goodbye bike
Goodbye wishes
And goodbye kisses
Goodbye Stoverettes
Goodbye mush
And goodbye to the RA whispering “hush”
Goodbye Utah airs
Goodbye school cares
Goodbye memories everywhere
