Brownish-Gold

How could I pas up writing about this particular dress?  In less than a day, this dress has gone viral.  It is all over the Internet with countless people frantically texting their friends what color this particular dress is.  Personally, I see white and gold (as opposed to black and blue, which the original dress actually is), but this is not going to be a post arguing why THIS DRESS IS FLIPPIN WHITE AND GOLD.  Instead, I have some other thoughts about this viral sensation.

In less than a day, people in multiple countries knew about this dress, and countless articles were written about it.  People were arguing, celebrities were tweeting, children were crying.   OK, so children didn’t really cry, but basically things escalated pretty quickly.  Even memes were created.  My personal favorite from The Lion King, of course:

It is strange and fascinating how things can spread so quickly.  I realize that technology can be both a blessing and a curse.  In seconds, I can text a family member on the other side of the country and have them respond.  I can post a picture for everyone I know to see.  I can click a link that leads me to who knows where.  This dress spreading across the internet is just an example of how fast the internet works.  Everyone freaked out about this dress, but there are countless events in the media that deserve more attention.  I’d give examples, but I’m not afraid to admit that I don’t know much in the news.  Shouldn’t that be a concern?  I read many articles about the dress, but not about important events affecting me, my country, and the world.

Just a short thought about media, technology, and a gold and white dress.
