"Two Hands in Unison"
Gales Ferry, Connecticut |
The clock is ever ticking.
My mind is always picking.
What to do? Where should I go?
Seems like the time is my foe.
Don't be late! Don't hesitate!
Minute's worth could be your fate.
I leave now, who could I meet?
One small change could mean defeat.
Why does it control me so?
Sometimes the time brings me low.
Want to burst from these bound cords
Of faces that I lean towards.
Haunting faces that go on.
Every evening, every dawn.
Hands that tick in unison.
Five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
II.
The clock is always going.
My schedule it is showing.
What to do? Where should I go?
What good things I get to sow.
I feel great. I'm never late.
Many things are up to date.
I leave now, who could I meet?
One small change could be so neat.
I'm grateful for these great times.
I sing along to the chimes.
I pray I will not cower.
The faces I get to meet.
Memories I cannot beat.
Hands that tick in unison.
Five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
